Christopher Akagbue Emerges as the winner of Gulder Ultimate search 8

Behold the ultimate Hero! He is none other than Christopher Akagbue. Turn the hands of time a week back. After winning yet another task, Christopher Akagbue was asked by show anchor, Bob Manuel for his reaction. With a dead pan expression on his face, the Anambra State born Model turned to the other contestants: “Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid”. Either they failed to take him serious or they simply could not cope with the Anambra State born model. It doesn’t matter anyway. Today, Christopher has shown the world that he is in a class of his own by winning the 2011 edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search.

However, his final triumph was anything but easy. He had to go through a gruelling task and a painstaking search for the ultimate treasure in the Ososo forest before winning the competition. The first task required the four surviving contenders, Tony Igwe, Christopher Akagbue, Kelvin Durst and Anastasia Azike, to climb a mountain using ropes to get to symbols arranged in a definite order. After memorizing the arrangement, they were to climb down the mountain and replicate the arrangement with symbols provided for them. However, they were only allowed two attempts at replicating the symbols. Failure to get the arrangement correct after the two attempts would mean that the individual would have to return to the mountain. When they are done with replicating the arrangement, they would then return to the mountain again to retrieve wooden slides. Each slide was a part of a puzzle which, when put together correctly would form a sequence of words.

The four champions received their briefing from Bob Manuel and they set off. Once again, Christopher was the first to get to the mountain. He was followed closely by Kelvin and Tony. Knowing that she would never win the sprint, Anastasia took her time to get to the mountain. After memorizing the arrangement, Christopher returned to replicate the arrangement. With Bob’s approval, he quickly set about the second task of getting the wooden slides. Again, he completed it in good time. He was the first to complete the task, closely followed behind by Kelvin. Delta State born Kelvin could finally breathe easy when Bob adjudged him to have completed his. Thus it became a battle of the sexes, Tony against Anastasia. Tony was sent back to the mountain after failing to get the arrangement of the symbols after two attempts. Thus, Anastasia overtook him, arranging her symbols before completing the second leg of the task. Tony’s fate was sealed; he had lost out.

That night at the talking drum, Tony was evicted. He left the camp after kicking down his totem but still had time for one last mischief. He hid Kelvin Durst’s lucky jacket. This act would infuriate Kelvin, who never failed to boast of how his lucky jacket was the source of his good run in the competition. Finally Christopher found the jacket and the three champions rested for the night. It had been a long, exciting day, but the next day promised to be even more exciting as the ultimate Hero was sure to emerge.

The next day, after breakfast, Kelvin discovered the clue for the task ahead. The clue led them into the heart of the jungle. After a frantic search, Kelvin discovered the next clue which led them yet again on another hard trek into the jungle. After climbing the steep hills and valleys they were met by Darey who pointed them to the right direction: the ruins of an old temple.

After reaching the designated spot, they began the search for the second lost helmet of General Maximillian. The three combed the area seeking the object and it seemed that their efforts were not going to yield any fruit. Suddenly Christopher stumbled upon the coveted prize: A wooden box which contained the lost helmet of General Maximillian. Thus, Christopher became the Ultimate Hero in this year’s edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search.

Anastasia, however, deserves special mention. Not the least for emerging the Last Girl Standing but also because of her sterling performance overall. Her feat as the joint second best in the competition has set a record in the history of the Gulder Ultimate Search.

As for Kelvin, he may not have won but he also deserves a pat in the back for tieing with Anastasia in the competition. The half caste had to endure countless taunting over his complexion but that did not stop him from emerging joint second best.

Still the stage belongs to Christopher Akagbue for winning the competition. Indeed, it is a new lease of life for the Anambra State born Champion. All hail the king!
